  1. Ages 5 to 7 sort needs and wants: needs keep us safe and healthy, wants are fun extras, and needs come first. With a picture sorting game.

  2. Ages 5 to 7 learn that we can’t have everything, so picking one thing means giving up another. With a pretend toy shop and picture questions.

At the Store

  1. Ages 5 to 7 practice paying: find the price, make it with pennies, nickels and dimes, then hand it over. With a pretend coin shop game.

Unit 6 · Save

Save

  1. Ages 5 to 7 meet the Spend jar and the Save jar: some money for now, some for later. Split pretend coins between two jars in a game.

  2. Ages 5 to 7 practice waiting: waiting can get you more, simple tricks make it easier, and picking now is OK too. With now-or-later stories.

  3. Ages 5 to 7 learn that a goal is the thing you save for, with a picture and a price. Then they fill a pretend goal jar week by week.
