A budget app without bank linking

Beyond Payday never asks for your bank login. You put your numbers in — by typing, in a spreadsheet-style grid, from a file you import, or from a paystub you scan — and you can export all of it whenever you want.

Free plan, no card. Typing, the spreadsheet grid, import and export are all free; paystub scans are limited to three in total per household on Free.

How it works without a bank connection

A manual budget app does not have to mean slow. There are four ways to get your numbers in, and you can mix them.

Type it in

Plain forms with dropdowns and labels that explain each field. Enter a bill, a debt, an account or an income source one at a time.

Use the spreadsheet grid

On Bills, Debts and Assets, switch to Spreadsheet to enter many rows at once — arrow keys, paste from Excel, fill down, undo.

Import a file

Bring in a CSV, TSV or Excel (.xlsx) file of bills, assets or debts. You match the columns and choose which rows to save.

Scan a paystub

Upload a photo or PDF of a paystub and it fills in the income entry, then opens it so you can check and correct it. Beyond Payday never stores the image.

Simple or Spreadsheet — same numbers underneath

On Bills, Debts and Assets, switch between the two whenever you like. The grid checks every value the same way the form does.

Simple. One thing at a time — dropdowns, plain-English labels, and a form that explains each field as you go.
Spreadsheet. Arrow keys, copy and paste straight from Excel, fill down, undo and column sorting — every value checked exactly the way the form checks it.

Import

The honest trade-offs

Skipping the bank connection costs you something. Here is what.

You put the numbers in

Nothing arrives on its own. You type your bills, balances and income, import them from a file, or scan a paystub. When a balance changes, you update it.

No transaction feed

There are no automatic transactions and no transaction ledger — no list of every purchase to categorize. Beyond Payday works from your recurring bills, income, and what you own and owe.

Import is for current records, not history

A file import creates bills, assets and debts. It does not bring in past transactions or balance history.

Why people choose it

Your bank credentials never leave your hands.

There is no bank connection to switch off, because none was ever built. Your data travels over TLS, every table has row-level security, and data at rest is encrypted by our infrastructure providers.

You type it in

Your numbers get there because someone in your household entered them: typed, imported from your own file, or read off a paystub you chose to scan.

Your browser sends it

Over HTTPS, the same encrypted connection your browser shows a padlock for.

Our database stores it

In your household’s own rows. No outside feed adds to it or changes it later.

Your bank: no connection exists

Not switched off — never built. There is no bank-connection service anywhere in the code, so nothing here could ask for a bank login even if it wanted to.

The way back out

Export everything to a .zip — a full JSON file plus a CSV per category — or delete the account outright. Both are self-serve, and both are free on every plan.

Export

Take everything with you, any time.

One click gives you a .zip with a full JSON file and a CSV for each category. Export is free on every plan — no upgrade needed to leave.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Beyond Payday without linking a bank account?
Yes — it is the only way it works. There is no bank connection in the product, so it never asks for a bank username or password. You enter your numbers by typing them, using the spreadsheet grid, importing a file or scanning a paystub.
Does it download my transactions?
No. There are no automatic transactions and no transaction ledger. Beyond Payday tracks your income, recurring bills, accounts and debts, and you update balances when they change.
Can I import a spreadsheet I already keep?
Yes. Import a CSV, TSV or Excel (.xlsx) file into Bills, Assets or Debts. You match each column to a field, check the values, and choose which valid rows to save.
What happens to a paystub photo I scan?
It is sent to an AI service that reads the numbers off it. Beyond Payday processes it in memory and never stores the image — only the extracted numbers are saved to your account. The income entry is saved from what the scan reads, then opened so you can check and correct it. Free-plan households get three scans in total; Pro and trial accounts can scan whenever they need to.
Can I get my data back out?
Yes. Export everything as a .zip with a full JSON file and a CSV for each category. Export is free on every plan, and the household owner and spouse can run it any time.
Is it free?
Typing, the spreadsheet grid on Bills, Debts and Assets, file import and export are all on the Free plan. The Free plan includes three paystub scans per household, in total. Retirement planning, business tracking and the AI assistant are part of Pro.
