The Settings page has a free Your Data card that downloads your family's financial records entered in Beyond Payday — income, bills, assets, debts, goals, businesses, and more — as a single .zip file. It's available on every plan, and any account owner or spouse/partner can use it.

Before you start

  • Exporting is free — no Pro plan needed.
  • Only the account owner and spouse/partner can export. Child accounts don't see this card.
  • You're limited to 5 exports per hour.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings (opens in a new tab) and find the Your Data card.
  2. Choose Download my data. The button shows Preparing your export... while it works.
  3. Your browser downloads a .zip file with your family's data.

What's in the download

  • export.json — a JSON export of your family's financial records, including its saved SHTF plan when you have access. The plan includes all four levels, hypothetical changes, assumptions, and save metadata; it has no separate CSV. An unsaved plan or one unavailable to you appears as null. It also lists the Money basics steps your household marked Not for me, with who marked each one and when.
  • One CSV per category — income, bills, assets, debts, goals, snapshots, milestones, and businesses.
  • A profit-and-loss CSV for each business you track, if your family has any businesses.

Good to know

  • The export reflects your data at the moment you download it — there's no scheduled or automatic export.
  • The file downloads straight to your device. Beyond Payday doesn't email it or keep a copy for you to retrieve later.
  • Deleting your account removes access to this option and removes personal and financial data from active databases. Limited records may remain as described in the Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab). Export first if you want a copy.

Bringing data into Beyond Payday

Use Import data in the same Your Data card for personal Bills, Assets, and Debts from compatible CSV, TSV, or XLSX tables. This creates new records; it does not restore the JSON export or a complete account backup. See Import your data.

What's inside the download?

A zip file with export.json (your family's financial records entered in Beyond Payday) plus a CSV for each category — income, bills, assets, debts, goals, snapshots, milestones, and businesses — and a profit-and-loss CSV for each business you track. The saved SHTF plan, when available to you, is included in export.json.

Can my spouse or partner export the data too?
