You can permanently delete your Beyond Payday account yourself from Settings. Deleting is final: it cancels your subscription with no refund and removes personal and financial data from our active databases. Limited records may remain as described in the Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab). Only the account owner can delete the account, and deletion cannot be undone.

Before you start

  • Owner only. Only the account owner can delete the account. A spouse or child who tries gets an error, and the delete option does not show for them.
  • There is no undo. Once you confirm, the account and its active personal and financial data are removed. Limited records may remain under the Privacy Policy.
  • Download your data first. Deletion removes the active account data, so if you want to keep a copy, use Download my data on the Your Data card in Settings before you delete. Afterward there's nothing left to retrieve.
  • Deleting the owner deletes the whole family. Every family member loses access right away.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings (opens in a new tab) and scroll to the Danger Zone card.
  2. Choose Delete Account.
  3. In the pop-up, read the warnings. In the confirmation box, type the exact phrase shown, which is DELETE MY ACCOUNT followed by your email — for example, DELETE MY ACCOUNT you@example.com.
  4. If other people are in your household, tick I understand this deletes the whole household for everyone.
  5. Choose Permanently Delete Account. The button stays locked until the phrase matches exactly (and the box is ticked, when shown).

What deletion removes and what is kept

  • Removed for good: your income, bills, assets, debts, goals, businesses, retirement settings, snapshots, family members, and your profile and login.
  • Billing is canceled: any active subscription is canceled through Stripe as part of deletion. No refund is issued.
  • Kept about 7 years: a small set of billing identifiers (such as an email tied to past invoices and referrals) is retained for tax and legal record-keeping, as described in the Privacy Policy. Everything else is erased.

Inactive households

If no one in a household has signed in for 12 months, we may close the household's account and permanently delete its data. Before we do, we email every member with a confirmed email address 30 days ahead, then again 7, 3, 2 and 1 days ahead, with the closing date. Signing in once, by anyone in the household, keeps it open. Households on a paid plan or in a free trial are never closed this way. No warnings go out before November 13, 2026.

Good to know

  • Just want to stop paying? You don't have to delete. Downgrading to Free keeps your account and data — see "Cancel or change your plan."
  • Deletion is immediate. There is no grace period or "restore within 30 days" window.
  • If the Permanently Delete Account button won't turn on, check that the typed phrase matches the on-screen phrase exactly, including your email.

FAQ

Can I get my data back after deleting?

No. Deletion is irreversible. Personal and financial data is removed from active databases and cannot be restored. Some limited records may remain as described in the Privacy Policy.

Do I get a refund when I delete?

No. Deleting cancels your subscription, but no refund is given for time already paid for.

Can a spouse or child delete the account?

No. Only the account owner can delete the account. Other members who try get an error and the option does not appear for them.

Is anything kept after deletion?

Yes. Personal and financial data is removed from active databases, but limited records may be retained for purposes such as billing, legal, security, and support. See the Privacy Policy for the current retention periods and details.

Should I export my data first?

If you want to keep a copy, yes. Use Download my data on the Your Data card in Settings before you delete — deletion is permanent and can't be undone.
