What your kid learns

  • Borrowing is a promise

You use it for a while. Then you give it back.

  • Take care of it

Treat it gently. Keep it clean and safe.

  • Give it back on time

Give it back when you said you would.

  • If it breaks, make it right

Tell the person who lent it. Say sorry. Ask a grown-up to help fix it. Keeping promises builds trust.

The story: Sam keeps a promise

At a park, Sam borrows a ball from Maya and 1 cent from a grown-up, gives both back on time, and a trust meter goes up.

  1. Helper: Hi there! Sam and Maya are at the park.
  2. Sam: May I borrow your ball? I’ll give it back before we go home.
  3. Maya: Yes! Please take good care of it.
  4. Helper: Sam plays gently. Then Sam gives it back on time.
  5. Maya: Thank you! You kept your promise.
  6. Grown-up: Sam, you may borrow 1¢. Please bring it back tomorrow.
  7. Helper: Tomorrow comes. Sam gives the coin back.
  8. Helper: Borrow it, care for it, give it back!

The game: Keep the Promise
