The Teen view is the real Beyond Payday app, made simpler, for family members aged 13 to 17 who sign in with their own login. Pages keep their names but get plain subtitles, The Big Picture shows the Ready for 18 checklist, and a switch shows how any page looks for grown-ups.
How it works
- Who gets it: a family member with a child login, aged 13 to 17 by the birthday on file. A child login with no birthday on file also gets it.
- Plain subtitles: the menu keeps the real page names with teen subtitles, like Income: Money you get: jobs, gigs, allowance, and Bills: Money you pay regularly.
- Ready for 18: The Big Picture shows a checklist of nine steps instead of the setup guide and Money basics. See The Ready for 18 checklist.
- See it like a grown-up: a switch at the bottom of the menu swaps the teen subtitles for the grown-up ones. A note at the bottom of the page says Grown-up view: this is how this page looks in the full app at 18. Choose Back to my view to switch back. It changes words only and never opens a page you can't already use.
- Level up explainer: the first time you sign in, a short explainer shows how the Teen view tracks money. If you came from Kid Mode, it also shows where your jars went. Replay it any time with Replay the Level up explainer in Settings → Privacy or in Learn.
- Lessons: Learn in the menu has teen and grown-up lessons. Your lessons save to your account and stay private unless you turn on Share my lessons.
What teens can and can't open
- You see only your own money records, with the pages your parent's permissions allow.
- Planning tools for grown-ups, like Retirement and the What-if planner, aren't part of the Teen view.
- No AI features: no Beth, paystub scanning, AI savings tips or outside AI apps.
- No ads, no analytics tracking, and no streaks or come-back nudges.
Assumptions and limits
- Level Up lessons (ages 11 to 13) play in the kids' player and aren't saved to a teen account. Teen lessons start with Real World Ready.
- Teen certificates can be downloaded and printed. Certificates with a public verify link are for adults 18 and over.
