Every Learning Center lesson is free, has no ads and needs no account. Open the Learning Center, pick the set of lessons (a track) made for your age, and start any lesson. Each lesson is a short story, a few cards, a game, a quiz and a certificate at the end.

Steps

  1. Open the Learning Center (opens in a new tab) from the site footer, or choose Learn near the bottom of the sidebar if you're signed in.
  2. Pick a track. Each one is made for an age group, from Coin Crew for ages 5 to 7 to Life After Paychecks for ages 55 and up.
  3. Open a lesson. The track page marks your Next up lesson, but nothing is locked.
  4. Press Start. Use Next and Back at the bottom to move through the steps, then Finish at the end.

How a lesson works

Every lesson follows the same steps, shown along the top: Warm-up, Story, Learn, Play, Quiz, Remember, Try it and Finish.

  • Story: a short animated story sets up the idea. Its words show under the picture, and Transcript lists every line.
  • Learn: a few short cards explain the idea in plain words.
  • Play: a game with pretend or example money, such as sorting, matching, shopping or planning. Every game works with taps, clicks or a keyboard.
  • Quiz: a short quiz. A wrong answer gets a hint and another try. After a second miss, the lesson shows the right answer.
  • Remember and Try it: the main points, and one small thing to do in real life.
  • Finish: your stars, a badge and a certificate you can download or print.

Stars depend on the track. Teen and adult tracks count how many quiz questions you got right on the first try. There are no timers anywhere.

Good to know

  • Each track page lists the lessons that are ready. A unit with more on the way ends with a line like +2 more lessons coming, and units with no lessons yet are under See what's coming.
  • Lesson pages show a written outline of the lesson under the player, so you can read it without playing.
  • Lessons for kids under 13 (Coin Crew, Money Detectives and Level Up) play in a separate kids' player with no sign-up and no tracking. See Lessons for kids and the grown-up hand-off.
  • Lessons teach how money works. They are not financial advice.
