Every lesson can read itself aloud, show captions, use bigger text and calm its animations, and it works with a keyboard or a screen reader. Change any of these in Learning settings inside the lesson. Your choices are saved on this device.
Steps
- In a lesson, choose Learning settings (the gear button at the top).
- Under Read aloud, pick Auto to hear each step, Tap to listen to hear only what you choose, or Off.
- Pick a Speed for the voice.
- Turn on Captions (show the words while the voice reads) if you want the words on screen.
- Pick a Text size: Standard, Large or Larger.
- Set Celebrations to Full or Quiet.
- If you use a screen reader, turn on I use a screen reader so our voice doesn't talk over yours.
- Choose Done.
How it works
- Read-aloud uses a voice already on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere. With Tap to listen, each part of a step has a Listen button.
- Stories always show their words under the picture, with Play, Pause, Back, Next, Replay and a Transcript of every line.
- Reduced motion: when your device asks for less motion, or Celebrations is Quiet, stories show still pictures and celebrations stay calm.
- Keyboard and screen readers: every button and game works by keyboard, and focus moves to the new step's heading when you go on. Feedback is announced.
- No timers, no dragging: nothing is timed, and no game needs dragging.
- Right and wrong are never shown by color alone. Each answer also gets a word and an icon.
Good to know
- Each track starts with settings that suit its age. Coin Crew (ages 5 to 7) reads aloud on its own with bigger text, and Life After Paychecks starts with bigger text and captions. You can change any of it.
- In Kid Mode, a parent can also set Read aloud and Celebrations for the kid's screens on the kid's page in Settings → Family.
- Each lesson page also has a written outline of the lesson, so you can read it without playing.
FAQ
Does read-aloud send anything over the internet? No. Read-aloud uses a voice that's already on your device, so the words never leave it.

Do I have to drag things in the games? No. Every game works with taps, clicks or a keyboard, and nothing needs dragging.
How do I stop the animations? Turn on reduced motion in your device settings, or set Celebrations to Quiet. Stories then show still pictures, one part at a time.
