Kid Mode keeps working after your kid turns 13. Once they're 13, their row on the Family tab shows Ready for the Teen view, and their Kid Mode page shows a note too. When you're ready, you can move them up to the Teen view: their own login in the real Beyond Payday app, made simpler. Nothing changes until they accept the invite.
What you'll see
- Ready for the Teen view on your kid's row, and "ready for the Teen view" on their Kid Mode page. Both open the upgrade page.
- Upgrade to the Teen view in the row's Kid Mode menu.
- Kid Mode counts age from the birth month and year. The upgrade opens on the first day of the month after the 13th birthday month. With no month on file, it opens on January 1 after the year they turn 13.
Your choices
- Stay in Kid Mode for now. Nothing changes.
- Upgrade: see what carries over, then send an invite to your kid's own email with their full birthday. See Upgrade to the Teen view.
- Not yet on the upgrade page goes back to Kid Mode without sending anything.
What carries over
Every jar becomes an account to the cent. The top goal, keep-safe money and the Give jar become goals linked to their own accounts. An allowance becomes Allowance income, and money borrowed from you becomes a debt. Everything else from Kid Mode, like history, stickers, other goals and the wish list, is kept read-only in My kid years. Kid Mode devices, the PIN and the picture code are removed.
If no one opens My kid years for 12 months, we email the account owner and your teen, then delete it 30 days later. Opening it keeps it.
Good to know
- Changing the birth month or year so your kid becomes 13 or older asks you to confirm first.
- The Teen view is for ages 13 to 17. Before 13, the upgrade page shows the date it opens and a link to the Teen view demo.
