Signing up takes a couple of minutes; filling in your full financial picture happens at your own pace. Create your account from a US location, verify your email, then work through the Setup Guide checklist on your dashboard — birthday, income, bills, assets, debts, and, if you want, your spouse.
Before you start
- Beyond Payday signup is open to people signing up from the United States only.
- No credit card needed. Eligible new accounts start on a free 30-day trial of Pro, then settles onto the free plan automatically if you don't subscribe.
- Have your spouse's email handy if you plan to invite them.
Steps
- Go to the sign-up page and fill in Name (optional), Email, and Password (8–72 characters) — or continue with Google or Apple.
- Check the box to accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then select Create Account. If you tap Google or Apple first, the page tells you to tick the box above to continue.
- Check your email for a 6-digit verification code. Enter it in the Verification code box and choose Verify and sign in. The code confirms your email, then the signup page signs you in with the password you just typed. The code never signs anyone in by itself. You can also click the link in the email. The code and link expire 30 minutes after they're sent. If you don't see the email within a minute or two, check your spam or promotions folder. Resend code sends a new one only when you choose it, with a five-minute cooldown for your email address. A resend keeps your current code and link usable until they expire; after expiry, it sends a new code and link. If you reload the page or open it in another tab, the code box is still there. If you don't verify, we send up to two reminders, about an hour and about a day later, each with a fresh code and an unsubscribe link. They stop once you verify.
- Log in. Your dashboard shows a Setup Guide bar with a running percentage and a list of tasks.
- Select Add Your Birthday and enter it in Settings — this personalizes parts of the app.
- Select Add Your Income and enter each source (salary, freelance work, benefits, and more) on the Income page.
- Select Add Your Bills and enter your recurring bills (rent, utilities, subscriptions, and more) on the Bills page.
- Select Add Your Assets and Add Your Debts to log what you own and what you owe.
- Optional: select Add Family Members on the Setup Guide (or open Settings (opens in a new tab) → the Family tab directly). Select Add a family member, choose An adult, then Spouse or partner, enter their email, and select Add Member. Saving with an email sends their login invite.
How it works
- The Setup Guide score adds up to 100%: birthday (10%), family members (10%), income (30%), bills (20%), assets (15%), and debts (15%). Each task says what it unlocks, such as income being the starting point for take-home pay and what's left each month, and assets starting your net worth and retirement savings. The order stays the same because later tasks build on earlier ones.
- Every task has a skip link if it doesn't apply to you — skipping marks it done without adding data.
- The checklist stays on your dashboard until every task is complete or skipped, and can be dismissed once it reaches 100%.
- Once your Setup Guide is complete or dismissed, the dashboard shows the Money basics card in its place: what your numbers say is already in place, such as three months of bills set aside or a goal. See Use the money basics checklist.
- One Beyond Payday account covers your whole family under a single subscription. Adding family members doesn't cost extra.
Good to know
- A welcome email arrives once after you verify, whether you use the code, the link, Google or Apple.
- If setup stays unfinished, we send up to three short reminder emails, around day 1, day 3 and day 7. One unsubscribe link stops the series. See Quick setup.
- You don't have to follow the checklist in order — jump to whichever task matches what you have ready.
- Any family member you add can be edited, re-invited, or removed later from Settings — nothing here is permanent.
- Under-13 family members can't receive an email invite, but you can still add them to track their finances; they just won't have their own login.
- If you're accepting an invitation instead of starting fresh, you'll join your inviter's family instead of starting a new one.
- Your dashboard may ask once, "How did you hear about Beyond Payday?" It's optional: tap an answer or select Skip, and it won't come back either way.
FAQ
Can I sign up from outside the United States?
No. Beyond Payday signup is currently limited to US IP addresses, since the product is built around US tax and Social Security data.
Do I have to finish the whole checklist right away?
No. The Setup Guide tracks your progress and stays on your dashboard until each task is done or skipped, so you can spread it across several visits.
What if I sign up again with an email that already has an account?
You see the same **Check your email** screen as a new signup. If that address was never verified, it gets a fresh code. If it is verified, it gets an email saying you already have an account, with sign-in and password reset links (at most one a day). Your existing password and data are not changed.
Can I skip a setup task?
Yes — every task has a skip link that marks it done without adding any data.
What if I want to add my spouse or kids later?
You can add family members anytime from Settings → the Family tab — it doesn't have to happen during initial setup.
