Beyond Payday is a personal-finance and retirement-planning app for US households. You track your income, bills, assets, and debts by typing the numbers in yourself — there's no bank account to link, ever. The app turns those numbers into a net worth summary, a monthly money in and out picture, and — on the paid Pro plan — a full retirement projection.

Try the live demo

Open the live demo introduction (opens in a new tab), then choose Enter the interactive demo to start on the dashboard with a fictional household. Switch households any time. No account or bank connection is needed.

In What-if planner (opens in a new tab), try editing an existing hypothetical bill, removing hypothetical items or bundles, and restoring excluded current items. Reset sample restores the household. These changes stay in browser memory and clear when you switch households or reload. Creating scenarios, adding new items or purchase bundles, and editing assets or debts require signup.

In Save money (opens in a new tab), try updating an amount, pausing a bill, or removing a sample record. These edits stay on Save money and do not change the Bills demo. Reset sample bills restores its sample bills and hidden suggestions. Switching households or reloading also resets those choices.

If cookie controls appear, choose Accept or Decline, or use Dismiss cookie banner, before starting the welcome tour. Dismissing the banner does not accept cookies. You can change your choice later in Settings > Privacy after you sign up. The tour points out Start free, the household switcher, and the demo menu; use Next to continue or close the tour to explore on your own.

How it works

  • You enter your financial life by hand. Income sources, recurring bills, assets (checking, savings, investments, your home, and more), and debts (credit cards, loans, mortgages) — enter them manually or import a compatible table of bills, assets, or debts.
  • Beyond Payday does the math. Your net worth (what you own minus what you owe), how much money is left over each month after bills, and how your finances are trending over time.
  • Nothing updates on its own. What you see is only as current as the last time you or a family member entered a number — there's no bank sync running in the background.
  • It's a planning tool, not a transaction tracker. Beyond Payday doesn't import or categorize your purchases line by line. It works with totals you enter, like "Rent: $1,800/month," not a running list of every purchase.
  • It works in any browser. Beyond Payday is a web app you can add to your phone's or computer's home screen. Phone apps for iPhone and Android are rolling out to the App Store and Google Play now.

Try the free calculators and guides

The free tools work without an account. The retirement calculator and take-home-pay calculator explain their methods and assumptions, link to sources, and include examples with real numbers. Read those limits before comparing the estimate with a real paycheck or retirement plan. The free retirement tool uses a fixed return and a simple tax allowance; it does not model inflation or actual withdrawal tax rules.

Financial articles in the blog (opens in a new tab) include Sources and context, with a note about what each reference supports. Follow the author name for background. These are educational resources, not personalized advice or a claim that an independent financial professional reviewed the article.

An example with real numbers

Say a household enters:

  • Income: $6,200/month combined take-home pay
  • Bills: $4,100/month (rent, insurance, subscriptions, and more)
  • Assets: $18,500 in savings and investments, plus a $2,000 car
  • Debts: $6,000 in credit card and auto loan balances

Beyond Payday shows this household has about $2,100 left over each month, and a net worth of $14,500 ($20,500 in assets minus $6,000 in debts). If they upgrade to Pro, those same numbers also feed a retirement projection that shows whether they're on track, year by year, into their 90s.

Assumptions and limits

  • Only as accurate as what you type in. If you forget to update a balance, Beyond Payday doesn't know it changed.
  • No transaction history. Since there's no bank feed, Beyond Payday can't show a spending breakdown by merchant — only by the bills and categories you set up yourself.
  • Built for the US. Sign-up is limited to the US, and every figure is in US dollars.
  • Some features are Pro-only. Retirement projections, tracking a side business, and Beth (the AI assistant) require a Pro plan. Everything else described here — including goals, the What-if planner, snapshots, and family sharing — is free.
