Kid Mode keeps only what it needs to work: your kid's first name, birth month and year, jars and entries, goals, lessons and stickers, paired devices, and a scrambled unlock code. It never shows ads, tracks, uses AI, or sells or shares any of it. You can download or delete it any time.
Steps
- Open Settings (opens in a new tab), select the Family tab, open your kid's row menu and choose Open.
- Select the Privacy & data tab. It lists what we keep and the date you gave your OK.
- To get a copy, choose Download (the button names your kid). It saves a file with everything Kid Mode keeps about them.
- To delete it all, choose Delete Kid Mode data. Type your kid's name, type your grown-up PIN, and choose Delete.
How it works
What we keep: first name, birth month and year (the month is optional), the look they pick, jar amounts and the labels and notes you or your kid add, goals and the wish list, jobs and borrow requests, lessons and stickers, which devices are paired and the day each last opened Kid Mode, the scrambled unlock code, and your consent record (your name, the date and the notice version).
What we never do: no ads, no selling or sharing, no analytics or ad tracking on Kid Mode screens, and Kid Mode records never go to AI. Service providers that host Beyond Payday process it only to run Kid Mode for your family.
Deleting: removes everything above and takes back your OK. It can't be undone. Copies in our backups are gone within 30 days. We keep only the record that you gave and then took back your OK (your name, the dates and the notice version), with nothing about your kid. If your kid has no login of their own, you can also tick Also remove them from the family.
Automatic clean-up: if Kid Mode isn't used for your kid for 12 months, we email the account owner. If it still isn't used within 30 days of that email, we delete your kid's Kid Mode data and take back your OK, as if you had chosen Delete Kid Mode data. It counts as used when your kid opens Kid Mode, when a parent opens your kid's page in Settings, or when someone opens My kid years. Devices that haven't opened Kid Mode for 90 days are unpaired, and error logs from Kid Mode screens, which hold record numbers only, are deleted after 30 days.
Good to know
- Your kid's first name is also on your family list. If you use Beth, the AI assistant, for your own planning, Beth can see the people on that list, but Beth's lists show a Kid Mode kid only as "Child". Beth can still see anything you type yourself, like a bill named after them. Beth never reads Kid Mode jars, entries, goals, lessons or devices.
- Download my data in Settings, for the whole family, also includes Kid Mode data. The kid's own download has just that kid.
- Deleting your whole Beyond Payday account deletes all Kid Mode data too.
- Read the full kids' privacy notice (opens in a new tab), or reach us through the contact form (opens in a new tab) to have us do any of this for you.
