Kid Mode only tracks money; the real coins and bills live in a jar, a wallet or with you. Count my jar lets your kid count the real money with you and check it matches. If it doesn't, the difference waits for your OK. It's never counted as spending.
Steps
- With your kid, open their jars in Kid Mode. In the Little view, tap a jar and choose Count my jar. In the Big kid view, choose More, then Count my jar.
- Count the real money together. Little kids tap each coin and bill they count; Big kids type the amount for each jar.
- If it matches, Kid Mode says so. If not, it shows what was counted and what the app says. The app's amount shows only after counting, so your kid really counts.
- On your kid's page, open Waiting for you on the Money tab. For the jar count fix, pick Why? (Forgot to log it, Lost some, Found some or Other), then choose Approve to fix the jar, or Decline.
How it works
- Count my jar only offers jars your kid holds. A jar whose money a grown-up is holding has nothing to count.
- A difference becomes one waiting jar count fix. A newer count of the same jar replaces the older one, even when the new count matches.
- Money your kid added that still waits for your OK counts as in the jar (your kid already has that cash), so it never becomes a count fix too.
- Jar count day: in the Little view, a reminder to count with a grown-up shows on the home screen for a week, starting the first Saturday of each month. Not now hides it until tomorrow on that device.
Good to know
- A mismatch is never your kid's fault in Kid Mode's words. The kid hears "A grown-up will help fix it."
- The fix shows in the feed with the reason you picked.
FAQ

Why can't my kid count a jar? When a grown-up is holding a jar's money, there's nothing for the kid to count, so Count my jar skips that jar.
