Short answer: only if your household allows it, and only when you confirm.

Beth is read-only by default. It reads the data you're allowed to see and answers questions, but it can't change anything.

An owner or spouse can turn on Read & write (see How do I let Beth make changes?). With it on, Beth can propose:

  • Adding, changing or deleting bills, income, assets, debts and goals.
  • Logging a goal contribution (for goals not linked to an account or debt).
  • Adding or changing a business. Beth can't delete a business.
  • Save money value ratings and your own birthday.

How a change works

  1. You ask, for example "raise my rent to $1,900".
  2. Beth shows a card in the chat: each item, the value before and after, and the effect on your monthly bills, take-home pay or net worth.
  3. You tap Confirm to save it, or Cancel. Cards expire after 15 minutes.

Deletes and changes to more than one item get an extra check: Beth first lists them in the chat and waits for your "yes", then the card needs a second tap that names the count, like "Yes, delete 3 bills".

What Beth can never change

Permissions, family members, billing, connections, sign-in settings and your SHTF plan. Beth also only proposes changes you have permission to make yourself.

FAQ

Is Beth read-only?

Yes, by default. Beth can only read your data and answer questions until an owner or spouse turns on Read & write.

What can Beth change with Read & write on?

The same things the Beyond Payday AI connector can: add, change or delete bills, income, assets, debts and goals; log a goal contribution; add or change a business; rate bills; and save your own birthday.

Can Beth save something without asking me?

No. Every change is shown on a card, and nothing is saved until you tap Confirm on that card.
