Grant staff temporary access to your numbers

“How do I let Beyond Payday support see my actual numbers?”

By default, Beyond Payday staff can see your account and billing details — plan, members, invoices, permissions — and anonymized, aggregated usage, but not your household's actual financial figures. AI chat transcripts staff can view have every amount, percentage, email, and phone number blanked out on the server automatically. To get real numbers, a named staff member has to request access to your household, and only you, the account owner, can let them in.

Before you start

Only the account owner can manage support access. Spouses and children can see that the Privacy page exists but can't approve, deny, or revoke a request.

Steps

  1. When a staff member requests access to your household, you get an email with their name and their written reason for the request.
  2. Go to Settings (opens in a new tab) and open the Privacy tab.
  3. Review the request on the Pending Requests card — who asked, and why.
  4. To let them in, choose a duration — 1 hour, 4 hours, 24 hours, or 3 days — then choose Approve and confirm. You get a receipt email confirming the grant.
  5. To say no, choose Deny and confirm. Nothing is granted.
  6. To end access early, choose Revoke on the Active Access card and confirm. Access stops immediately.

How it works

Access is scoped to one named staff member and one household at a time, and it expires on its own — nothing to remember, nothing to turn off. Every request, approval, denial, revocation, and actual use of a grant is written to the Access Log card on the same Privacy page, so you can see not just that access was granted but what it was used for.

Good to know

  • Staff access is not eliminated by this feature — it's gated, time-limited, named, and logged.
  • Database administrators and the infrastructure providers named in the privacy policy (opens in a new tab) necessarily retain technical access to run the service; this feature governs the Beyond Payday admin console, not the underlying infrastructure.
  • A denied or expired request doesn't notify the staff member differently from a revoked one — all three simply end access.

FAQ

Can staff see my numbers without asking?

No. Staff always see account and billing metadata and anonymized, aggregated usage, but real financial figures require a request you approve.

Who can approve a support access request?

Only the account owner. Spouses and children can't approve, deny, or revoke a request.

What happens when the access period ends?

It ends automatically — no action needed. The staff member's access is cut off the moment the chosen duration expires.

Can I revoke access before it expires?

Yes. The owner can revoke an active grant at any time from Settings → Privacy.
