A goal linked to an account or debt is marked Completed as soon as a saved balance reaches the target. Completed goals move to the Completed tab on the Goals page. You can delete any goal, finished or not, and there's no separate archive.
Steps
To see finished goals:
- Go to Goals (opens in a new tab).
- Select the Completed tab. All Goals and In Progress show the rest.
- Select a completed goal to open its Goal Achieved! summary, with the time it took and your target.
To delete a goal that's still in progress:
- Go to Goals (opens in a new tab) and select the goal to open it.
- Select the trash icon (Delete goal), then Delete to confirm.
To delete a completed goal: open its Goal Achieved! summary, select Delete goal, then Delete to confirm.
How it works
- Automatic completion. When you save a linked account's balance in the app, Beyond Payday checks any goal linked to it. A savings goal completes when the balance reaches its target. A Debt Payoff goal completes when the debt's balance reaches $0.
- A goal with no link tracks what you add with Log contribution on its card. See Update goal progress.
- Deleting is permanent. It removes the goal and can't be undone. The linked account or debt isn't changed.
Good to know
- Deleting a debt also deletes any goals linked to it. The confirmation names those goals first.
- A savings goal with no target amount never completes automatically.
FAQ
How does a goal get marked Completed?
When you save a linked account's balance at or above a savings goal's target, or a linked debt's balance at $0, the goal is marked Completed.
Can I archive a goal instead of deleting it?
There's no archive option. Completed goals stay on the Goals page under the Completed tab until you delete them.
Does deleting a goal change my account or debt?
No. Deleting a goal removes only the goal. Deleting a debt, though, also deletes goals linked to it.
