Beyond Payday has no separate "paid" button. A loan with an end date is marked paid off automatically once that date passes. For any other debt, you set its balance to $0, turn it off, or delete it from the Debts page.
Steps
If the loan has an end date: nothing to do. Once the date passes, the debt shows a ✓ Paid Off badge on the Debts page and is no longer counted. Its linked bills are turned off too.
For any other debt (for example, a credit card): go to Debts (opens in a new tab) and pick one:
- Keep it at $0. Select the pencil icon, set the balance to 0, and save. The debt stays listed and adds nothing to what you owe.
- Turn it off. Switch off Included in plan on the debt's row. It stays listed but isn't counted, and its linked bills are turned off too.
- Delete it. Select the trash icon, then Delete to confirm.
How it works
- Linked goals. If a Debt Payoff goal is linked to the debt, saving a $0 balance from the app marks that goal Completed. Deleting a debt also deletes any goals linked to it; the confirmation names them first.
- Paid-off loans stay off. A loan whose end date has passed can't be switched back on. Opening it shows "This loan is paid off!"
- Credit cards have no end date, so they're never marked paid off automatically.
Good to know
- You can't add a new loan with an end date that's already passed.
- Turning a debt off is reversible (unless its end date has passed). Deleting it can't be undone.
FAQ
Does Beyond Payday mark a loan paid off on its own?
Yes, once the loan's end date has passed. It shows a Paid Off badge and stops counting the loan and its linked bills.
What happens to a goal when I pay off its debt?
If a Debt Payoff goal is linked to the debt, setting the debt's balance to $0 marks the goal Completed. Deleting the debt also deletes goals linked to it.
Can I turn a paid-off loan back on?
No. A loan whose end date has passed can't be switched back on. You can keep it for your records or delete it.
