Update your card or fix a failed payment

You change the card you pay with on Stripe's secure billing page, which you open from the Plan & Billing tab in Settings. If a charge fails, the same tab shows a Payment Failed notice with an Update Payment button that takes you straight there. Only the family owner can do this.

Before you start

  • You must be the family owner. The Plan & Billing tab is not shown to spouse or child accounts.
  • You need a paid plan or a trial you've subscribed to. There's no card on file on the Free plan.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings (opens in a new tab) and open the Plan & Billing tab.
  2. Choose Manage Subscription on the Current Plan card. If a payment failed, you can choose Update Payment in the Payment Failed notice instead — both open the same Stripe page.
  3. On the Stripe page, add or change your card and save it.
  4. Return to Beyond Payday from the Stripe page. You land back on the Plan & Billing tab.

How it works

  • Stripe handles your card. Beyond Payday never sees or stores your full card number.
  • A failed charge marks the plan Past Due. The plan badge shows Past Due, and the Payment Failed notice says your last payment was unsuccessful. Updating your payment method avoids losing Pro.

Good to know

  • To see past charges and download receipts, use the Payment History card on the same tab.
  • If you'd rather stop paying, you don't need to update your card — choose Downgrade to Free instead. See "Cancel or change your plan."

FAQ

Who can change the card on file?

Only the family owner. The Plan & Billing tab does not appear for spouse or child accounts.

Does Beyond Payday store my card number?

No. Cards are handled by Stripe, our payment processor. You update your card on Stripe's secure page, not in a Beyond Payday form.

What does Past Due mean?

Your last payment didn't go through. Choose Update Payment on the Plan & Billing tab to add a working card.
